Entry Fee & Annual Subscription

The initial ENTRY FEE to join the LSGC is a one-off £50.00 – this includes a high-quality silk CLUB TIE and current CLUB BAG TAG. Thereafter the ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION is £30.00, USUALLY PAID BY STANDING ORDER IN FEBRUARY, before the start of the golfing season.

Matches And Entries Explained

NOTE: It is not unusual for some matches to be oversubscribed, and normally, as places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, it’s to your advantage to ensure you click onto the MATCH INTEREST FORM and list the matches you are interested in as soon as possible.

Please only request entry into those matches that you are certain you would be available for, if selected.

Firstly, The Fixtures List

Visit the fixtures page – Fixtures for the forthcoming Season are posted to the website by January (usually earlier). They are listed in Month and Date order.

The major LSGC Meetings have their own page on this site:  Winter Lunch, Spring Meeting, Autumn Meeting and International Golf events.

If you wish have more details on any of the other fixtures, please contact David Barker     davidbarker207@btinternet.com

Then, Choose Your Matches

It’s never too early to decide if there are matches you would like to play in – check the date, and if you are certain that you would be available (if invited) to play COMPLETE THE ‘MATCH INTEREST FORM’ on the website (drop-down menu under ‘FIXTURES’) – your completed form is emailed to the Club Secretary and your details and availability are logged against your requested Matches.
The Secretary will format the team for each fixture and e-mail invitations.

If invited to play, it is essential that you confirm you acceptance as soon as possible.

When Selected To Play

Upon your acceptance of the Invitation to Play, a cheque (made out to the LSGC) – for the stated deposit should be forwarded to the Club’s address.

OR … If you prefer …  forward your deposit via BACS, please ensure you transfer each match payment separately – it makes the accounting much easier!! Then let the Hon. Sec. know that the payment/s have been sent.

The outstanding balance will be requested before the match date, and should be settled promptly. Purely as a guide, the average cost of matches can range from £90 to £125, which would normally include at least one round of golf, lunch and light refreshments.

Tee Times are sent out at least one week before the fixture, and you should arrange to arrive at the course in good time.

Matches

Spring Meeting – Open to all members

Advance notice of date and venue is always posted on the web site as soon as the date is confirmed and a notice displayed at the Autumn Meeting. Autumn Meeting – Open to all members and guests

(A partnering ‘Guest’ can be a fellow LSGC member)

Advance notice is always given in the Fixture List and at the Spring Meeting.

The Member can invite a Guest to the meeting as his playing partner and enter as a playing pair for the event. Your Guest does not have to be a law professional to be invited by you and compete as your partner. A fellow LSGC member could also form a playing partnership with you. It is usual that Members meet the cost of their Guest’s day with the LSGC, which will be expressed on the entry form.

The Invitation, stating all the necessary information and cost, is sent normally two months before the event, and the entry form should be completed (scanned or photographed) and forwarded (post or email) together with the requested deposit (cheque or bank transfer) should be returned as soon as possible after receipt. Tee times and pairings are forwarded to participating members at least a week before the event.

36 holes of golf are played over the day, with lunch included, and consists of two separate foursomes competitions, morning and afternoon, with prizes for the aggregate totals. Depending upon the location, members and guests normally stay in a hotel the night before/after the event, and the LSGC usually supply a short list of possible hotels near the course. All hotel bookings are undertaken personally and at an extra cost to the Autumn Meeting.

One-Day Matches

A formal invitation will be sent out to members available to participate some weeks before the match date. This invitation will state the date, the venue and the cost of the match (including details of whether coffee, lunch and/or afternoon tea or dinner is included) and the required match fee.

Confirmation/acceptance of the invitation will be required from you, together with a cheque to cover the match fees. When the match is a one-day event, the total cost of the day will be indicated on the Match Invitation Form.

Two/Three Day International Matches

A formal invitation will be sent out to available members some months before the match dates. This invitation will confirm the dates, the venue and probably the cost of the green fees and required deposit. Confirmation/acceptance of the invitation will be required from you, together with a cheque for the state amount. International Matches are hosted alternatively ‘home’ and ‘away’ and in almost all the matches the costs are now split between the two teams.

European Golfing Holidays

In certain years we are able to organise golf at some of the best courses. These operate as group holidays with wives or partners most welcome. Golf is balanced with social events. In past years these have taken place in Northern Italy, Aigua Blava and Novo Sancti Petri in Spain where the last five of the seven European Legal Team Championships have taken place.

These events are publicised well in advance – click the link at the top of the page to read more about the 2019 Championship Even in Portugal. In August 2018 a Golfing Tour is arranged for Italy, with the hotel based on Lake Como, combining golf and leisure. Members who are interested in joining this or any of the Tours should contact us immediately for more details.
