CIRCUIT JUDGES G.S. New Zealand G.C. Saturday 24 March 2018

The day dawned overcast and didn’t improve much throughout although it didn’t rain.  The Circuit Judges were in fine form and created a most convivial atmosphere which is much the norm in all our matches.  We were welcomed to New Zealand Golf Club as we always are by their secretary Roger Marrett.
The match was 2 rounds of foursomes and after a close contest in the morning the match was tied at 3 1/2 points each.  Lunch followed and as ever it was a superb lunch with a glass or two of fine red wine to help.  The afternoon grew gloomier and sadly few if any of us were able to complete the whole 18 holes in the afternoon matches.  The tide had turned and sadly the gloomy conditions pretended a sad result for the LSGC team as we came a close second in the afternoon. The match was lost by a total of 8 to 6, this being more than amply noted by Roger providing a results sheet that showed a grumpy faced emoji under the LSGC column!!
Everyone enjoyed a friendly match with our colleagues from the Circuit Judges whose company was great and emphasised the fellowship and camaraderie that is so important in all of our matches regardless of the results.
