This match of some years standing has moved venue, from Swinley Forest to West Sussex, Pulborough. Whilst Swinley Forest takes some beating, the general view was that West Sussex is an outstanding course and venue and (hopefully) it will remain on the LSGC fixture list.
It goes without saying that the weather was perfect, as was the course even in its dry state. The staff were extremely helpful and genuinely pleased to be so. Lunch was one of, if not THE best had this year. Now to the battlefield. The morning resulted in all being equal. The afternoon was played over 12 holes ( due to the heat!) and we (the LSGC) waited anxiously for the final match result, knowing that only a win would be enough to avoid defeat. We need not have worried, as Phil Rowlands and Brian Mulligan came home as the winners, and the overall result was tied.
