The match with the Brussels Bar took place this year on 4 and 5 July at the Royal Golf Club du Sart Tilman, a superb course sitting in the forest south of Liege. For the first time since 2009 the Brussels Bar team emerged victorious by the comfortable margin of 12 1/2 to 7 1/2.
The match culminated with dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant in a chateau at which the Challenge d’Amitie was presented to the winning team and Louis Philippe Orban and Michael Sullivan received the Adam Kirkwood Trophy. The Adam Kirkwood Trophy is a competition between teams comprising a Belgian and a British player played after the conclusion of the main match.
This year our team comprised Simon Barrett, Geoff Bottrill, Philip Heyes, Bernard Hodgson, Kevin Martin, Michael McCabe, Ian Newton, Michael sullivan, Tony Sullivan and, as a transfer after a late withdrawal through injury, the Belgian Christian Mahieux.
