The start of the LSGC golfing calendar as ever is with the match against the Valuers & Auctioneers Golf Society (VAGS) in early to mid March.  I understand that it is historically held at West Hill Golf Club which is a lovely course near Woking.  If you’ve not played it I’d more than happily recommend it to you all.
The morning match was foursomes and we narrowly lost that session 2 to 3.  A hearty and very enjoyable lunch followed with a small amount of wine to help loosen the golf swings of the LSGC team and disorientate the VAGS golfers.  The afternoon matches were 4 ball better ball matches where the competition was fierce with many of the matches finishing on the 18th hole.  The LSGC managed to sneak the afternoon with a score of 3 to 2.  The match was thus halved with a score of 5 points to each team.
Appropriate closing speeches from the Captain of the VAGS and the LSGC and we all wended our way home.
The day was most enjoyable on a good course with good food and good wine but above all else with lots of banter, fellowship and camaraderie. A great start to the LSGC golfing year.
